There are many things that you will need to consider and take into account when you are striving to create a professional webpage. The first thing you will need to consider carefully is the colors that you choose for your design.
It is important to consider how the colors you choose will impact the viewer. Certain things are associated with various colors and shades that will impact the mood that the viewer is presented with.
This emotional impact will impact the viewer and can move him or her to make a purchase or to visit another site. Obviously, you want to encourage the viewer to make a purchase, so you will need to choose the appropriate colors.
Some of the meanings associated with various colors include yellow for happiness or sunshine, black for darkness or death, blue for boys, pink for girls, white for purity or cleanliness, green for the environment, and so forth. You will want to make sure that you choose colors which have associations you would not mind being associated with the company you are creating the web page for.
You will also want to study a little color theory so that you can choose several shades that work harmoniously together. The contrast of the colors can be used effectively to draw the eye to certain parts of the screen and to certain pieces of information.
However, you do not want to the colors to clash too badly or the viewer will be repulsed and will go elsewhere for the information or item that he or she wants. The second thing you will need to carefully consider in your design is the typography that you use.
There are thousands of different fonts that you can choose from when it comes to typography. However, you will want to make sure that you choose one that is both interesting and extremely easy to read.
Keep in mind that different computers can only relay certain font types. You will want to choose a standard backup font to display if that one you really like will not show up on some computers.
In addition, you will want to consider you
r aging audience whose eyes may not be able to read complicated fonts that are too small. By excluding this audience you could be losing a lot of revenue.
Generally, complicated fonts are too much trouble for those who can read it just fine as well. Most people want to be able to read the text and get the information they want quickly and easily.
As a result, it is generally best to use a fairly standard font that fits with the design of your site well. Be sure to choose several other standard back up fonts as well though.
The font should also be large enough that it can be easily read. You can use several different sizes throughout your website in order to draw attention to certain things.
This is one of the elements that you can use to bring your visitor to make a purchase if you do it wisely. You will not want too many parts of the page to be in large font sizes and bright colors or it can be overwhelming to a visitor.
However, used appropriately the larger font sizes can make the page easier to read and more attractive. You can also emphasis different phrases and parts of the text by using italics, bold, underlining and highlighting.
When these things are used appropriately, they can be very effective. The third thing you will definitely want to consider is the arrangement of the various elements that you have included in your page.
You will carefully want to consider the amount of white space to the amount of text, images, and other content. White space will make a page feel clean and open.
A page with enough white space will be easier to read and to get information from. If a page is too full, messy, and cluttered, the viewer will have a hard time finding the information that he or she needs and the viewer may go to another site to get what he or she is looking for.
You will want to make sure that your design can be easily scanned by the viewer. Most viewers scan a page, find the information they want, and then decide whether or not make a purchase.
If they cannot scan your website easily, they will often hit the back button and go somewhere else. This is definitely as situation that you will want to avoid.
