I Need A Website Design Company - What Should I Be Looking For?

You could just as well go and hire anyone for this important job. However, I believe this is one of those things it's good to mull over for a while. Don't let anyone push you quicker than you feel the need to go. A website could be as little as $50 or it could be as much as $50,000. So if it's going to be an important site that a lot of people are going to see, it's essential that you pick the right person for the job. In the same way that you wouldn't hire a brain surgeon to fix your car, you also wouldn't hire the first person that comes along to do your site -- without looking at a few key aspects first.
So let's go ahead and talk about some of these key signs you should be looking for when choosing a website design company. First off, I think it's essential that this company have some sort of an on-line portfolio available for you to take a look at. Please make sure you always ask for previous work that they have done. This not only gives you proof, but it's also a good idea to see what kind of work they do as well. I have met two kinds of design companies thus far. I have met the big companies that really do awesome jobs, have potential for improvement (and are willi
ng to do so), have a nice portfolio and really love what they do.
Then, I have also met "people" that think they rock as far as design goes and everything about what they do is sloppy. So for my second aspect I think you should look for an actual company rather than an individual person. Hey, this isn't to say that an individual won't do a good job, okay? But in my experience it's good to find someone WITH experience that has a team that he or she works with. This is going to usually give you one or two people that will work on your specific project quickly, but efficiently. Websites can take a lot of work. And for ONE single person? It can end up taking a lot of time! Thirdly, I think it's important that the company site have some sort of a contact option - hopefully a phone option.
If they don't have it on site it probably means they are trying to be careful with "prank" callers. Yes, people actually do prank call online. Crazy, I know! So if you can't see a number -- ask for one! Finding an online website design company is much easier than finding one offline.
