Choosing from construction templates can be a mind boggling task with so many different layouts, colors, themes, and styles to choose from. But with the right knowledge you can choose a template that will best fit the type of construction website that you want.

Templates are a great option for those that do not have vast skills in designing. They can save you time, money, and energy compared to making a website from scratch. With so many different ways you could go it may seem a bit overwhelming at first but asking yourself a few of these simple questions can help get you on the right track.

Question One - What goals do you have for your website? The template you choose will give the website its overall look and feel so choose wisely. Consider your company colors and also how certain colors make people feel. For example, blue is seen as honest, friendly, and professional where orange means fun. Consider whether you are going to have a one page website, ten pages, or a thousand pages. Do you want to educate people or sell to them? You may want a form for people to request estimates or get in touch with you, be sure the construction templates you are looking at are compatible with that.

Question Two - What layout do you want? The layout of the template refers to where certain elements are placed on the page. For example, a site could have a left side menu, a right side menu, or both. You may be interested in having mostly content or a lot of images or a mix of both. Choose construction templates that will give you the closest look and feel to what you want. You do not want a template that will require a lot of re-designing because that defeats the purpose of using a template.

Question Three - What sells the best? The best way to sell is by appearing professional and it all starts with a professional looking website. Normally this is the customer's first impression of you and your construction company so it is vital to have a professional look. Be sure the content is easy on the eyes against the background color. For instance, yellow words on a black background do not read well and will run people off. Also be sure the site is going to load fast. A beautiful looking site that takes 5 minutes to load will not serve you or your company well.

Question Four - How is their customer service? You also must consider what type of service is coming with the template that you are choosing. Many companies sell construction templates but not all of them have a support line or experts that can help you if you get in a bind setting it up. Do a little research on the template company you are purchasing from and be sure they can field your questions when they arise. There is nothing worse than buying the perfect template and not having anyone to help you through the process.

Question Five - Is simple better? A nice clean simple layout may be what you are looking for. If you can grab people's attention, keep them there, educate them, and tell them what actions to take with some content and a few pictures than that may be all you need. Lots of pages and content is fine just but be sure it is easy to navigate. The more pages and content your site has the better chance it will have to rank in the search engines, just be sure you categorize pages well and make it easy for people to look around without getting lost.

Your goal with a website should be to educate people and to ultimately sell them products or services. Traffic means nothing if it is not converted into sales and this will be determined by how well your site looks, feels, educates and how it perceives your company. Almost like writing a business plan before you start a business, you should write out everything you want out of your website before looking at any construction templates.
