If you are considering an online course then you will want to be sure that you have the time needed to dedicate to your classes. With the right time dedication you have the advantage of learning anytime you have a few spare hours for studying.

If it's all messy and nilly willy, chances are people won't want to deal with you. On the other hand, if you spend a few hundred dollars, take some time to work with a web designer who can make your site look nice and actually work - you will probably get a lot more customers.

So just because someone is a designer for a living doesn't necessarily mean that specific company will know how to do the job. And that's fine. Sometimes just because we are in a specific profession doesn't mean we have to know every little detail about it.

This not only gives you proof, but it's also a good idea to see what kind of work they do as well. I have met two kinds of design companies thus far. I have met the big companies that really do awesome jobs, have potential for improvement (and are willing to do so), have a nice portfolio and really love what they do.

I think it's better when you get a company that has an all-in-one option. You're going to need the other options anyway, so you may as well find a company where you can get one price instead of going to a bunch of different sites. These other options may include things such as:

These are pretty self-explainable, but all in all they make it so that the search engines can actually find you online. If you have a site such as a work at home, electronic, health, or food site - these are a dime a dozen. There are zillions of them online.

They are going to actually build and design your website for you. This is important because it's the "cover of the book" so to speak. You want to make sure that the site is professional and emits whatever you intend to use it for.

Usually they say that the cream of the crop companies -- the best of the best are going to be listed on the first and second pages of the engines. So that is definitely a place I would suggest you start looking! As aforementioned, look at their portfolio. Some designers won't have the "look" you want, and that's okay!

Just go to the quote section and they will probably ask you a few key questions such as; when should your site be ready? What do you want your website to do? Do you need any extras like SEO, SEM, hosting, maintenance, Internet Marketing, do you want to sell products? How many pages should the site be?

They don't have to be down the street, but I do think that a localized company would do you better than someone in a far off land somewhere. Personally for me, I have a hard time talking to people either online or offline that speak in different languages, have accents or use anything BUT English.
